De Gruyter enters strategic partnership with Lynne Rienner Publishers

2 December 2021

De Gruyter has announced its global strategic partnership in eBook distribution with Lynne Rienner Publishers. De Gruyter will host and distribute Lynne Rienner’s complete frontlist, as well as backlist encompassing more than 1,500 titles. De Gruyter will also digitize previously out of print titles, which will be available exclusively through degruyter.com.

Founded in 1984, Lynne Rienner Publishers is an independent house that publishes scholarly works and textbooks in the fields of international studies, comparative politics, US politics, military history, sociology and criminology. The house’s mission since its inception has been to combine the quality standards of a university press with the necessary efficiencies of an independent publisher.

De Gruyter and Lynne Rienner share a great deal of synergy that is reflected in both their publishing programs and their independence. The two houses produce high-quality peer-reviewed work in the social sciences, supporting the dissemination of scholarly monographs. Through this new partnership, Lynne Rienner will greatly benefit from De Gruyter’s proven global eBook distribution strategy.

LRP publishes must-have contributions to the social sciences around the world,” says Steve Fallon, Vice President of Americas and Strategic Partnerships, De Gruyter. “Often smaller publishers are reliant on third party distributors such as DG to support sustainability. We are committed to representing the best of those publishers across the spectrum, and LRP is a perfect fit for our mission.”

“De Gruyter will help us to bring the work of our authors to an even broader global audience than we have thus far,” says Lynne Rienner, Founder and President of Lynne Rienner Publishers. “With their latest platform developments, De Gruyter provides enhanced visibility for LRP titles while offering value-rich, convenient access to them for libraries around the world. We are especially happy in this era of consolidation to be part of a project where independent publishing houses are supporting each other.”
