Merriman award: terms and conditions
Eligibility: The award is open to UKSG members (Find out if your organisation is a member). Applicants should be in a role within a Library or Information Service with responsibility for managing online resources or in direct contact with library users, supporting them in the use of online resources.
Applications will be judged on the following criteria:
- Evidence that applicant can demonstrate innovation and initiative
- Evidence that the applicant will improve knowledge / has referred to the conference programme
- Evidence that attendance at the conference has communication skills and will actively participate/network
- Evidence that the applicant would effectively disseminate ideas/knowledge gained from the conference
CVs and incomplete applications will not be considered.
We welcome international applicants, though applications should be written in English.

The Merriman award is only open to applicants working in the Library sector.
The successful UKSG recipient of the award agrees to work with UKSG to convert their entry into an editorial for UKSG eNews.
Sponsored Places for the Annual Conference and Exhibition: terms and conditions
Eligibility: applicants should meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Students enrolled on Library & Information and Publishing degree courses, whether currently studying full time or part time as undergraduates or postgraduates (This includes those who are newly qualified but still seeking work in the scholarly information community.)
- Individuals who identify as having a voice or perspective that is underrepresented within the sector. This underrepresentation may be experienced within a local context (at your organisation) or be more pervasive within the scholarly information community.
- Early career practitioners with up to five years’ experience in any sector of the scholarly information community. (We will also consider applications where an applicant’s career has changed significantly.)
- Individuals from the scholarly information community who have not attended the UKSG conference before.
Applications will be judged on the following criteria:
- Evidence that the applicant will improve knowledge / has referred to the conference programme
- Evidence that attendance at the conference has communication skills and will actively participate/network
- Evidence that the applicant would effectively disseminate ideas/knowledge gained from the conference
CVs and incomplete applications will not be considered.
We welcome international applicants, though applications should be written in English. Please note that a cap on travel expenses of £300 will apply.
The successful recipient of the award agrees to contribute a short piece of writing reflecting on the conference experience for UKSG eNews.
