OVERVIEW:

With the extensive use of technology in our day-to-day life, the way people learn is changing radically. The use of mobile technology has increased in the last few years and more organisations are moving towards a BYOD policy, making necessary improvements for learning technologies. At Croydon College, to face these changes, we have developed a bespoke Mobile Theme for our Moodle VLE.

Date: Tuesday 27 January 2015
Time: 1400 GMT
Duration: 45 minutes including Q&A (up to 60 minutes maximum if there is sufficient demand for an extended Q&A)

Raffaele Di Meo

eLearning Officer, Croydon College

Raffaele Di Meo has worked for over three years in the eLearning sector developing a good understanding of Technology Enhanced Learning working as an ICT Trainer at Lewisham College and eLearning Officer at Croydon College and UCC, which has been shortlisted for a TES FE Award for the ‘Outstanding use of Technology in FE’. His current position is focused on Moodle, managing, administering and developing the College VLE and Student Intranet. Since he started to work at Croydon College, the use of the VLE doubled and it currently counts over 4.5 million actions a year. A key stamp of Raffaele’s work is the online submission strategy for Higher Education which allowed UCC to move assignment submissions 100% online as well as to provide students with more comprehensive feedback. Raffaele also introduced Open Badges, developing an implementation strategy that focused on the employability advantages and designed numerous badges connected to the successful engagement activities already taking place at Croydon College. After only a few months from the Open Badges launch, hundreds of students have started working towards the achievement of an Open badge.
