ResearchGate and Hindawi Limited have announced a new agreement that will make all articles published in Hindawi’s open access journals available directly on the ResearchGate platform upon publication.
The partnership, which launched on October 14, 2021, will also see the published version of all 290k+ articles from across Hindawi’s portfolio of 230+ gold open access journals fully accessible on ResearchGate by the end of 2021.
This partnership aims to accelerate the discovery of research by making published articles readily available on the ResearchGate platform, which has more than 55 million unique visitors per month. It builds on Hindawi’s commitment to working collaboratively with the research community to maximize the reach, impact, and visibility of published work.
Hindawi is the first publisher to have all its content available on the platform. Research and education leader Wiley, which acquired Hindawi in January 2021, launched its own pilot with 18 gold open access journals earlier this year. Positive feedback on the Wiley pilot from authors and ResearchGate members informed the decision to make Hindawi journals accessible on the platform. Additional Wiley journals will also be added in the upcoming second phase of the Wiley pilot, planned to launch in the coming months.
Mathias Astell, Chief Journal Development Officer at Hindawi, said: “Through this first-of-its-kind partnership we help to further realize the potential of open access for our authors and readers by making articles available in one of the key places online that researchers discover, read, share and discuss research.” Going on to add, “This greatly advances a primary aim of ours as a publisher – facilitating open, fast, and effective dissemination of research – and helps to ensure our authors’ content can be read by as wide and as relevant an audience as possible.”
“Both Hindawi and Wiley are committed to extending the reach of the research we publish and, in this way, enhance discovery”, said Liz Ferguson, Group Vice President, Wiley Open Research. “Partnerships like this one pave the way towards a more open and collaborative scholarly ecosystem which better serves the needs of researchers and society alike”, she added.
“We’re delighted to be partnering with Hindawi,” says Sven Fund, General Manager, Publisher Solutions at ResearchGate. “We’re aiming to bring Hindawi’s content to new audiences, increasing its consumption, facilitating its discovery, and stimulating peer engagement. We’ll also be working together to develop the journal branding and marketing methodologies that will drive the transition to an author-centric, open-access world.
