About the Event
This webinar will give an overview of what research integrity is, why it’s important and new challenges faced by publishers to maintain research integrity in a fast-changing industry. The webinar will focus on the importance of collaborative solutions to these challenges and will be of interest to researchers, institutions, editors, publishers, librarians and anyone else involved on the conduct, oversight and dissemination of scholarly research.

Jigisha Patel Research Integrity Consultant |
Dr Jigisha Patel is an independent research integrity consultant. She has experience of managing a wide range of research integrity issues as well as developing and implementing strategies to prevent and detect publication misconduct. She led the Research Integrity Group at BioMed Central where she was responsible for maintaining standards and expertise in publication ethics and peer review and later went on to help establish the research integrity group at Springer Nature.
Jigisha earned her first degree in Medicine and her PhD on postprandial physiology from Queen Mary, University of London, UK. She spent several years in hospital clinical practice and a year at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, USA, before making the transition into publishing. She taught on professional development for medical students at University College London Medical School and on human biology at the Open University. She has applied her experience of teaching and training adults to develop training and resources on research integrity for editors and publishers. She has also conducted and published her own research on issues related to research integrity.
Her particular interests are medical research ethics and the detection and prevention of publication manipulation.

- Practical tips on how to detect and prevent misconduct.
