15 June 2023

Coherent Digital has announced its acquisition of Accessible Archives Inc. The acquisition will add twenty-four new collections to Coherent Digital’s history portfolio.

Coherent Digital LLC has retained Unlimited Priorities LLC. Unlimited Priorities LLC will continue to manage all Accessible Archives processes until a successful migration has occurred. This will include, but not be limited to, sales, marketing, licensing, IT, production, COUNTER, and all related partnerships.

“Unlimited Priorities and the team from Coherent Digital have for decades worked successfully on getting products into the information industry, which will make this a very smooth process,” said Iris L. Hanney, President of Unlimited Priorities LLC.

“Accessible Archives is known for landmark digital collections, including notable content in African American and women’s history, and country-wide county histories,” said Stephen Rhind-Tutt, President and CEO of Coherent Digital. “These will become an integral part of an expanded History Commons platform, opening fresh avenues for historical research.”

“We are striving for a smooth acquisition and transition for both companies’ customers,” said Eileen Lawrence, Vice President of Sales.

Accessible Archives has digitized newspapers, periodicals, books, and primary sources representing North America in the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries. All of the content is XML TEI-lite and re-keyed, creating highly accurate primary sources suitable for data mining and extremely effective searching for researchers.

Coherent Digital has built an award-winning user interface. When Accessible Archives’ high-quality content joins the History Commons platform, users will have a tool with enhanced value.
