Open access package in Romance Studies
Peter Lang is collaborating with Knowledge Unlatched and publishers Iberoamericana Vervuert and Walter de Gruyter in an open access package in Romance Studies. Under the agreement, all publishers together will initially release a total of 12 titles from their backlists, published in the years 2012- 2017, in open access. The monographs, collected volumes or dissertations should be written in either French or Spanish and cover the areas of French or Spanish linguistics or literary studies.
In the project’s second phase, starting in 2019, Peter Lang will publish five frontlist titles in Romance Studies per year in Gold open access, using the Knowledge Unlatched crowdfunding model to raise the publishing costs through libraries around the world. The titles will be selected by an independent editorial board. The agreement is scheduled to run for three years, from 2019-2021.
Hachette Livre agreement
Peter Lang has also announced a distribution and print on demand agreement with Hachette Livre Distribution and Lightning Source France which will go live in autumn 2018. The agreement has two main aspects:
-
through its print on demand service with Lightning Source France, Hachette will print and distribute all new publications from Peter Lang’s French language publishing programme, launching all titles released by the Peter Lang Belgian publishing office to bookstores and retailers in Francophone regions
-
Hachette will distribute Peter Lang’s French Language front- and backlist titles in the Francophone countries from all five Peter Lang publishing offices in Brussels, New York, Bern, Oxford and Berlin.
