EBSCO is soliciting grant applications to give libraries the opportunity to 'go green' by funding solar installations. EBSCO will be accepting submissions from both domestic and international libraries.
The grants will allow winning libraries to reduce their utilities expenses and install a solar array at their institution. After seeing the benefits of 'going green' on its own campus, EBSCO introduced the EBSCO Solar grant programme so libraries interested in adding their own solar arrays can do so. Since 2016, EBSCO has given libraries more than $650,000 in grant money.
Red Feather Lakes Library in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado, Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, and The University of West Indies, Mona in Kingston, Jamaica, received grants last year and are planning to install their arrays in 2019.
Interested libraries are encouraged to submit questions until 28 February 2019. Submissions are due by 30 April 2019, and the winner will be announced on 21 June 2019, both online and at ALA-Annual. More information is available on the EBSCO Solar webpage, including the timeline, where to submit questions, a link to the submission form and FAQs.
