An update from the Geological Society outlines changes intended to ease the transition to working from home for readers and librarian partners:
- The grace period for access to Lyell Collection content for non-renewed subscriptions has been expended to at least the end of April. This will be reviewed and extended as necessary. Those experiencing problems or who wish to discuss access should contact subs@geolsoc.org.uk.
- The time limit for off campus activated subscriber access (CASA) for staff and students has been increased to 120 days. HighWire working with Google Scholar has extended the time-to-live for CASA tokens to 120 days allowing off campus access for students and staff to subscribed Lyell collection content (journals and ebooks). Users can generate tokens, which will then apply across a range of devices. To find out more go to the HighWire CASA page.
- The Geological Society are offering free trials for Lyell Collection content that can be added to existing subscriptions on application or requested by new customers for a 3-month period to help Earth Scientists access content at home. To set up a free trial contact subs@geolsoc.org.uk.
- A number of thematic collections are available free online.
