Maverick Publishing Specialists and Management in Publishing (MiP) have announced a new partnership to provide training and career development services specifically designed for managers and other leaders in the publishing and scholarly communications sectors.
MiP draws on the expertise and experience of co-founders Nancy Roberts and Clare Grist Taylor acquired from their combined five decades of senior management level roles in publishing, trade, and academia. After four years of co-creating and delivering training courses and seminars for a number of publishers and industry associations, MiP was founded earlier this year as demand for their services increased dramatically.
MiP provides bespoke training courses aimed at early career managers, experienced leaders, and anyone aspiring to a leadership role in publishing, as well as personalized coaching and mentoring. The company’s approach balances training in the transactional aspects of management, such as performance appraisal and objective-setting with more discursive content on managing and leadership, including self-awareness, personal impact, and effective communication.
“After years of inconsistent practices, publishers are finding that their line managers need much more support if they are to continue to build high-performing teams and to protect the wellbeing of their workforce in these changing and uncertain times,” said MiP co-founder Nancy Roberts. “MiP provides tailored training for the publishing industry that recognizes its unique constraints and challenges, enabling managers to work within them and thrive.”
Maverick President, Martin Marlow said, “Not least with the events of the last year, ensuring that your managers and leaders are not only highly skilled, but increasingly flexible, agile and responsive in their approach to looking after their teams is vital. Maverick is proud to partner with Management in Publishing to help expand the reach of this important service.”
