North Rhine-Westphalian consortium
Ex Libris has announced that the North Rhine-Westphalian Library Service Center has signed a contract with Ex Libris on behalf of the North Rhine-Westphalian (NRW) consortium in order to introduce the Alma library services platform to the 43 member institutions of the consortium. The Alma platform will replace eight different systems currently in use.
Replacing the heterogenous, complex structure of the current library systems, the expectation is that the Alma platform will provide an integrated landscape that serves large and small member libraries alike.
University of Michigan library
The University of Michigan library has also selected the Ex Libris Alma library services platform and Primo discovery and delivery solution to support its collection. The library is one of the largest research libraries in the United States, with almost 13 million volumes, 137,000 current serials, and more than 4.2 million annual visits. This scale and the library’s rapid growth rate were key business drivers for the move to modern, cloud-based computing standards and capabilities.
With the new system, the library hopes expand its current capabilities, including electronic resource management and analytics, and explore new features, such as linked data and collaborative collection development.
