4 September 2019
This is the final chance to submit an idea for a short presentation to be delivered at the 2019 UKSG E-Resources for Further Education seminar in central Birmingham on Tuesday 26 November 2019. The deadline for submissions is 18 September 2019.
This annual event, free of charge to FE and sixth form colleges, brings together learning resources and library managers to share best practice and innovation in the management, delivery and support of e-resources in further education. Participants have time together to share tips, techniques and strategies which they can put into practice back at college.
This year’s theme is 'Cracking the curriculum! Making the most of e-resources in learning and teaching'. UKSG would like stories of things that have been tried; what worked, what didn’t and tips to share with peers in a 20 minute session.
Suggestions to get you thinking:
- Have you engaged hard-to-reach groups with e-resources?
- What ways have you found to enthuse busy teachers with e-content?
- Removing barriers: how have you worked together with others e.g. e-learning or IT staff and/or e-resources suppliers to enable seamless access to e-resources?
- Do you have a great case study on promoting e-books successfully?
- What new skills do your staff need to implement e-resources successfully in the curriculum?
- Have you worked with a publisher to inspire learners with innovative content?
Feel free to come up with your own ideas. Stories of practical change which can help others gain from your experience are particularly welcome. Presentations should be 15 minutes in length plus five minutes for questions/discussion. Speakers are encouraged to be as interactive and creative as possible.
I have an idea, what should I do next?
Please submit ideas for presentations by 18 September 2019. Any questions, or to discuss an idea in advance of submission, contact events@uksg.org. UKSG aims to notify the chosen speakers in the week commencing 30 September 2019.
Speaker slides will be made available after the event on the UKSG website. In return for their contributions, speakers will have reasonable travel expenses covered by UKSG.
Not submitting?
Then save the date – 26 November 2019 – and share with interested colleagues. We need enthusiastic participants who are happy to join in the discussions, share ideas, develop learning opportunities and leave inspired with practical ideas to improve their service. Booking details will be released in the autumn on the UKSG website, lis-e-resources UKSG list and on Twitter.
