Pep Carrera
ProQuest has named Pep Carrera as President of its Books business unit. Previously Pep was President and Chief Operating Officer of VitalSource, an Ingram Content Group company. He joined VitalSource and Ingram Content Group in October 2012. Earlier in his career he served as Chief Technology Officer of RAPP, a division of Omnicom Group that specialises in software, analytics, and database solutions for marketing departments of large enterprises.
Lyndsey Dixon
Lyndsey Dixon is joining De Gruyter as Global Journals Director to expand and strengthen the journals portfolio, including open access journals. Lyndsey joins De Gruyter from Taylor & Francis, where she spent the last ten years of her career and where she was most recently Editorial Director APAC Journals. Prior to Taylor & Francis, she spent three years at Elsevier. She will continue to be based in Hong Kong and will, in addition to her overall responsibility for all of De Gruyter’s journals, also play a key role in developing the company’s journal and business partnership prospects in APAC, particularly in China, Japan and Southeast Asia.
Frank Vrancken Peeters
Springer Nature Group has announced that Frank Vrancken Peeters, currently Chief Commercial Officer, is to become the group’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with immediate effect. Daniel Ropers is to leave the company, as per his agreement with the Board, having ensured a smooth transition with his Springer Nature colleague. Frank joined Springer Nature in September 2017 as a member of the Management Board in a newly created Chief Commercial Officer role. He has spent more than twenty years in general management, innovation, product management and sales roles across the academic, educational and professional publishing sectors. This followed a career in management consulting.
Byron Russell
HighWire has announced that Byron Russell is joining the organisation as EMEA Sales Director. Bringing over 30 years’ experience in the publishing industry, Byron started his career at Oxford University Press’ ELT division in Italy. He has held senior positions in sales and marketing with Pearson, Berlitz and Macmillan Learning, focusing on future-facing digital content delivery systems. Most recently Byron headed the aggregation platform Ingenta Connect and was responsible for launching Ingenta Open.
